The Department of Food Technology was set up in 2014. At BGIET Institute, we take pride in offering a cutting-edge education in B. Tech Food Technology, a field that lies at the intersection of science, technology, and innovation. Our Department of Food Technology is committed to nurturing future leaders and professionals who will drive the advancements in food processing, quality assurance, and food safety. It offers four-year Bachelor of Technology program, supplemented by lateral entry provisions for diploma holders into the second year, the department underscores its commitment to nurturing talent with a cadre of adept faculty members. Moreover, in response to industry demands, the department also introduced Master of Technology in Process and Food Engineering course in 2022. At BGIET Food Technology department, we aspire for excellence in teaching and education to meet the shortfall of such skilled manpower in the food processing sector. The department has a team of 12-14 well qualified faculties to co-operate with the ever growing curiosity among the students.

The department also have various laboratories like Dairy Technology, Food Chemistry, Food Analysis and Quality Control Laboratory, Food Microbiology Laboratory, etc. to carry out all the experiments required to develop a food technologist. The department also plans frequent visits to food processing plants to show the students various processing and preservation techniques currently in use in the industries. The faculty has meticulously curate laboratory infrastructure to provide students with tangible learning experiences. Moreover, through robust collaborations with numerous industries and organizations, the department facilitates internship and placement opportunities. The students go for internship in different industries, corporate houses and institutes in the country. Our aim and objective is to achieve excellence in all activities of teaching and to foster robust relationships with industries where students will strive for success. We firmly believe that our collective endeavors will significantly contribute to addressing critical challenges related to food security and environmental sustainability. It is our unwavering endeavor to provide students with an education that is at the forefront of modernity and innovation, thus empowering them to navigate the complexities of the contemporary food landscape with acumen and proficiency.
